Dr. James Harris is a board certified urologist with almost three decades of experience. He joined Gulf Coast Urology in 1993. Originally from Dayton, Texas, Dr. Harris attended the University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed his urologic training at The University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver.
Dr. Harris is on the clinical teaching faculty at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston’s division of urology. His primary office is located downtown; he also treats patient at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) in the Texas Medical Center, as well Baytown and Clear Lake.
Dr. Harris is active in medical leadership at St. Joseph Medical Center as a member of the Medical Staff Executive Committee. He is chairman of the Department of Surgery and Department of Urology.
Dr. Harris specializes in surgical management of cancers of the urologic system (kidney, bladder, prostate and testis). He also has expertise in the treatment of urinary incontinence, as well as prosthetic urology (penile implants, male sling, artificial urinary sphincter).
